Clear Vision Without the Bulk of Eyeglasses
While frames may showcase your personal style, eyeglasses can also be bulky or shift down your nose when you’re on the move. Contact lenses can open up your view and stay in place whether you’re having a casual day or being active.
Contact lenses rest directly on your eye, which makes the fit and prescription more detailed than a prescription for eyeglasses. Whether you prefer the comfort of soft contact lenses or the sharper clarity of rigid gas-permeable lenses, we can help. Book your contact lens exams and fitting at Island Eyecare today.
Book AppointmentWhat to Expect at Your Contact Lens Exam
When you come for a contact lens exam, we’ll check your eye health and vision. We’ll complete measurements to determine your prescription and recommend lens types.
You’ll get a trial pair to wear for about a week, and then you’ll come back for a follow-up. At this appointment, we’ll see if the lenses were comfortable and address any issues. If they weren’t a good fit, we’ll try another type until you find your match.
Specialty Contact Lenses
If traditional contact lenses don’t work for you or you have certain eye conditions that make them uncomfortable, there are other options you can explore.
At Island Eyecare, we want your eyes to feel healthy and comfortable, so we carry a broad range of lens types to find you one that works for your unique needs.
We carry MiSight 1 day, soft contact lenses designed to help effectively address nearsightedness (myopia) in children. The easy-to-fit, single-use lenses can sharpen blurry vision and slow the eye’s elongation to prevent worsening myopia.
We offer various methods of myopia management to help slow the progression of the condition without sacrificing comfort.
Orthokeratology (ortho-k) is a custom, rigid contact lens worn overnight to help manage myopia. These lenses gently reshape the cornea (the front surface of the eye), providing clearer vision all day—no glasses or daytime contacts needed.
Ortho-k is a great choice for kids who might not be suited for soft contacts or simply prefer not to wear glasses, especially active kids.
Toric contact lenses are designed to correct astigmatism, a vision condition where the cornea is not perfectly spherical.
These lenses are customized with a specific curvature to counteract the irregular shape of the cornea and prevent the lens from shifting, providing a clearer and sharper vision for people with astigmatism.
If you have presbyopia, your eyes have difficulty focusing on objects near and far due to the eye’s natural lens becoming inflexible with age.
Multifocal contact lenses combat presbyopia by offering multiple prescriptions in each lens, allowing you to see near and distant objects.
Scleral contact lenses are larger than standard contact lenses with a design that supports breathability and moisture retention. The customized fit can help provide clearer vision for people with corneal irregularities, like keratoconus, or dry eyes that make standard lenses uncomfortable.
As we get older, many of us start to notice that glare and dim lighting make night driving a bit tricky. Even with the right glasses, you might still feel uncomfortable, taking your attention off the road.
We offer contact lenses that are made to help eliminate glare and sharpen your night vision, so your late drives can be smoother and safer.
